About | POP-X

POP-X is a blend of Pop art and expressionism.

Coined by yours truly… that means me. I’m talking about myself.

When I stopped trying to paint, I began to make art.

I think my art is what my soul looks like. Spontaneously rough, colorful, edgy, and youthful. When people look at my art I want them to see me. I want them to know me. I want them to appreciate me. And most importantly I want them to remember me, because when they remember me, they will remember my art as well. Because we are the same.

When I started painting it was difficult. I tried so hard to mimic exactly what I saw and paint realistically. And let me tell you guys, it was dumb. I made lots and lots of paintings like this, and actually sold quite a few. But I will never forget the first time I made art.

I was frustrated that my art looked like just any other artist’s work. I wanted it to be mine. I wanted it to be as identifiable to me as my DNA. But the moment I started to think about how I wanted my art to look, I bound myself to being a painter and not an artist. If art doesn’t teach the artist something, I truly believe that it is merely a painting. Art is bigger than what the artist can even comprehend. Art taught me how to let go. It taught me to step aside and watch perfection unfold. It leaves me standing in awe with each and every completed work. That’s what POP-X is about.

The truest form of making art is stepping aside and letting go. And as long as I can do that, each and every piece of art will be my masterpiece. I want to be the one who lets go and allows randomness to consume me, and when I wake up, there is art before my very eyes. Art that I didn’t make, but my hands did.

My art is my soul. My art is me. Art is letting go. My art is randomly perfect.
My art isand only ever will beME.

And finally, to all of you who enjoy and support the things I create, thankyou.

You are part of this as well, because you make it possible.
